Educational worksheet
Futures P&L calculator
Calculate price P&L with explicit quote multipliers, direction and costs.
Use quotation units, not an unexplained physical quantity. A 1,000g lot quoted per 10g has multiplier 100. This does not compute daily funding, official margin, delivery costs or taxes not entered.
Formula and method
Gross P&L = (exit − entry) × direction × quotation units per lot × lots. Net P&L = gross P&L − entered total costs.
Worked example
Long at 12,000, exit 12,025, multiplier 40, one lot and ₹50 entered costs gives ₹1,000 gross and ₹950 net.
